Ideal Recruit are looking for a Warehouse supervisor to join our client in Burnley, to successfully oversee and manage the workflow within an operational function, ensuring the effective delivery of all work activity. Achieving high levels of productivity and health and safety compliance. To effectively lead and supervise a team of people, providing timely guidance, direction, and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To take ownership for an area, ensuring the completion of all daily checks, and health and safety compliance.
  • To effectively supervise a team of workers, monitoring performance, providing direction and guidance, and making recommendations for improvement. To set and maintain high standards of housekeeping, accuracy, productivity and health and safety.
  • To role model positive workplace behaviour and use positive and respectful language to keep employees motivated and happy and to maintain a positive and productive culture.
  • To effectively plan, delegate, and co-ordinate work activity considering daily work volumes, employees capability, strengths and development needs. To monitor individual performance levels, putting recommendations for improvement in place and following up changes where it falls below minimum standard.
  • To be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs and priorities as they occur, ensuring work activity and resources are flexed appropriately, ensure the successful completion of the end of day work activity.
  • Ensure return to work and 121 reviews are up to date complete assisted by the manager / assistant manager. Give constructive feedback to improve performance, when completing quarterly reviews.
  • To deliver, or oversee the delivery, of all mandatory training and upskilling of workers, in key work processes across the team; delivered by you or a competent person.
  • To monitor the effectiveness of agreed practices and processes, making recommendation for improvement in order to maximise efficiency and accuracy. To highlight proposals to the senior management team where the process requires change.
  • To communicate professionally and effectively with employees at all levels and external suppliers.
  • The security of People, products and site are maintained at all times. The site is locked and alarm correctly set at the end of the day.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse practices and systems of work.
  • Knowledge of performance management and supporting attendance.
  • Knowledge of FLT driving safely.
  • Experience of coaching, guiding, or training others. Experience of warehouse systems
  • Experience of completing documentation in compliance with HR policies.
  • Able to identify issues and to apply the appropriate resolution to encourage continuous improvement within the workplace.
  • Able to effectively delegate tasks to supervisors, coordinators, and operatives in consideration of skills, ability, training and competence.
  • Able to coach and mentor a team, empowering them to perform their roles by giving them the tools to succeed.
  • Able to negotiate and influence others to achieve the required outcome.
  • Maintain a professional manner at all times and able to consider how responses may be perceived.
  • The ability to motivate others when they are not as passionate as you are.
  • Able to effectively use email, excel and word.
