Gower College Swansea is one of the largest colleges in Wales with a strong reputation for high quality teaching and learning. We have six campuses across the city with over 4,500 full time learners and 10,000 part time learners.  We currently have a turnover of over £50 million making us a major employer in the region with approximately 1,000 staff.

The role:

Gower College Swansea are looking to appoint an outstanding individual to coordinate a highly experienced team in delivering a dynamic and innovative sports performance programme. 

The successful candidate will have experience of working within high performance sport, have experience of coordinating performance sport activities ideally within an educational environment, have excellent communication skills, and be dynamic and creative in ideas and opportunities to drive our sporting programmes forward.  The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment for continual improvement, a passion for innovation and excellence, and be adept at motivating and inspiring both staff and learners. As part of an experienced and committed team, they will be keen to support both curricular and extra-curricular enrichment and recruitment activities and recognise the importance and demands of being a student athlete.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To coordinate, motivate and inspire all coaching staff involved with Gower College Swansea sport performance programme to create a sporting culture of excellence, achievement and continual improvement.
  • To effectively market the sporting performance programmes to external and internal stakeholders.
  • To work across all Learning Areas to foster a culture of Sport and Active Wellbeing friendly timetabling.
  • To arrange all college sporting fixtures with appropriate transport, accommodation (if necessary) and instructions to both sports teams and counterpart institutions.

About you:

  • Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders with a view to improving and developing partnerships and facilities.
  • Professional qualification/coaching qualification or first degree in a relevant sports/sports science subject area.
  • Ability to promote and market the College’s academies and sporting activities at a variety of events.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate people and monitor budgets for best value.
