Job description: Senior Accountant | £28,000 – £35,000 DOE

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to work as a Senior accountant within the General Practice team for a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice. The firm provides a wide range of high-quality accounting, financial and business services to both companies and individuals.

The Senior Accountant will work within the General Practice Team to build a sound rapport with our portfolio of clients and provide an accountancy service and advisory to a high standard. The role holder will ensure the company continues to deliver a wide range of high-quality accounting, financial and business services to both Companies and Individuals, whilst being an integral part of our internal team and working in line with our core brand values.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of clients
  • Preparation and submission of year-end accounts to HMRC and Companies House for Sole Traders, Limited Companies and Partnerships
  • Preparation and submission of Corporation Tax Computations
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT Returns
  • Preparation and submission of Confirmation Statements
  • Reconcile client accounting records via Excel or accounting software.
  • Client Payroll; weekly, monthly, and yearly
  • Preparation and submission of monthly CIS returns.
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of the team.

What we look for

  • The role holder must be qualified to ACCA level.
  • At least 5 years experience within a General Practice role.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring junior members of a practice team.
  • Competent user of accounting software such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of professional regulations and best practice.
  • Be passionate about customers and service, with a strong will to make a difference.
  • To be self-motivated, prioritising and multitasking effectively.
  • Must be able to communicate with team members effectively.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge of Outlook.
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to changing business requirements
