We are looking for a proactive and ambitious researcher with a quantitative background (statistician or data science) and a keen interest in trials and digital health data and technology to join the Remote Monitoring of Rheumatoid Arthritis (REMORA) research programme. REMORA2 is an NIHR-funded programme that aims to evaluate and implement remote monitoring technology to enable people with rheumatoid arthritis to track their symptoms daily and share these with their rheumatology team. REMORA is hosted by the Centre for Epidemiology Versus Arthritis (University of Manchester), which delivers a world-leading portfolio of innovative musculoskeletal and digital epidemiology research across Greater Manchester and beyond.

The statistician/analyst will be responsible for statistical aspects of the REMORA2 stepped wedge trial during its conduct and write-up. Working with the study team, under the guidance and support of the lead statistician and the study chief investigators, you will assist with the development and maintenance of the trial statistical analysis plan and create analysis products for trial meetings and research publications as the trial progresses. The role involves knowledge of current clinical trials analysis methods, epidemiology, digital health, rheumatology, and chronic disease. The role necessitates close working with the trial and data management team, and other members responsible for quantitative analysis of the trial.

Knowledge of the quantitative analysis of clinical data (medical statistics/clinical research) are central to this role. Additional knowledge or experience of how pragmatic multicentre clinical trials are undertaken – particularly within a clinical trials unit or clinical research organisation is advantageous, though not essential. The post holder will be comfortable discussing statistical issues with non-expert audiences, considering the complex interactions between the practical, clinical, and statistical aspects of the REMORA2 trial throughout its conduct. Attention to detail, an organised approach to work, the ability to juggle competing tasks under pressure, and an eagerness to work and develop independently (under guidance from colleagues) are skills that complement this role.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.  All appointments are made on merit.
