We support clients decarbonise their energy, their buildings and their transport operations, and you will play a key part in this mission by advising clients on net zero strategies and initiatives to support their decarbonisation agendas.

The role will be part of Plan Zero Consulting’s Leadership Team and be focused on building client relationships and project opportunities across relevant sectors, As a Partner, you will lead a pool of Senior Managers, Consultants and Analysts to support you in scoping and delivering decarbonisation advisory engagement for clients, mostly focused on solutions targeted at the built environment

What will you do day to day?

As part of the role, you will be expected to establish a long-term trusted advisor relationships with clients and communicate with business decision makers at all levels to identify needs and requirements. This will involve building internal networks across key Mitie teams to maximise opportunity for client engagement. and The role may require managing and mentoring staff within the project delivery teams to aid their personal development. Awareness of health, safety, and sustainability in all aspects of the role is essential.

This role requires significant experience and deep expertise in sustainability, energy transition and broader decarbonisation solutions, as well as knowledge of how energy and carbon reduction strategies can support net zero plans. You will be responsible for delivering engagements that results in clear pathways for investment in projects to decarbonise our customer’s built environment.

You will be expected to sell billable advisory engagements to be delivered by the pool of consulting resource, owning the respective client relationships and ultimately being accountable for outputs and delivery.

Key Responsibilities: * Sales and business development

  • Sourcing, growing and maintaining a pipeline of business development opportunities around across all our key offerings
  • Developing innovative commercial propositions to support our client’s decarbonisation ambitions
  • Client Engagement and Relationship Management:
  • Developing and maintaining strong senior stakeholder client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor in the field of sustainability and net-zero strategies
  • Collaborating with clients to understand their sustainability objectives and challenges, and tailor solutions to meet their unique needs.
  • Project Management and Delivery:
  • Managing and overseeing the execution of decarbonisation engagements, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget by the pool of consulting resource
  • Leading cross-functional teams, providing guidance and mentorship to other team members
  • Designing and running multi-stakeholder senior client workshops to work through or report on project or business development activities
  • Market Research and Thought Leadership:
  • Staying current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in sustainability and net-zero initiatives, particularly on the impact of technology and digital platform that support organisations net zero agendas
  • Acting as a thought leader within Mitie and outside of the organisation, creating thought leadership content, speaking at relevant events and representing Mitie as an expert in the field

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field (preferably Masters) – e.g. Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Sustainability

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Experience of working closely with clients and building long-term relationships
  • Deep understanding of drivers and challenges of the decarbonisation mega trend as well as a view on the evolution of the market
  • Clear understanding of carbon reporting and accounting requirements, both mandatory and voluntary and how these impact organisations and their net zero journey
  • Independent thinker, with excellent customer facing skills and the ability to build relationships both internally and with senior stakeholders of major clients
  • Ability to lead engagements and client conversations with no oversight
  • Experience leading and developing teams aligned to a common goal
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills
  • Evidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with sound commercial acumen
  • Ability to review and assess large volumes of technical data and distil the key strategic insights
  • Sound MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Power Point
