About this role

We’ll bet you didn’t think that analysing data had a big place in Communications, right? Well – you’d be wrong. We love data and we love analysing it, learning from it and sharing the story it tells. We make decisions on well-understood data that improves not only what we do as a business, but also what we offer to our customers.

And we don’t just collect information. We analyse it and try to spot trends, identify patterns, or find customer ‘needs’ within it that helps us make good decisions for our customers and our business.

Throughout your apprenticeship, your role as a data analyst will be to support the Data Team and assure the quality and availability of data to the business. You’ll be there to ensure our data jobs run smoothly and efficiently and driving automation wherever we can. On top of that, you’ll collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. We’ll get you involved in managing, cleansing, abstracting and aggregating data, and conducting a range of analytical studies on that data. Working across a variety of projects, you’ll produce internal and customer reports demonstrating how their business is performing. You’ll document and report the results of data analysis activities & ultimately make recommendations to improve business performance.

Our Data Team is spread across the UK and comprises of Subject Matter Experts who you will get to learn from every day. It’s a really analytical job and you’ll need a proactive mindset as well as an eye for detail, but you’ll always be learning new skills and techniques to really help build your career. If you’ve got some good skills with PowerPoint and Excel, then they would really help with this role. By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be able to help the business make decisions through research and insight – a really critical role.

This job is available in Business part of BT.

About the apprenticeship you’ll study for.

This apprenticeship will last 18 months and 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to learning and studying. At the end of your hard work, you will gain a level 4 qualification in Data Analysis.

As an apprentice, you will study for a nationally recognised qualification as you gain hands on experience in our industry. After successful completion of this apprenticeship, you could kick start a successful career in the digital sector.
