The Future Air Traffic Systems team is seeking a skilled Senior Software Engineer capable of leading front-end webservices development within product offerings in the emerging field of Extensible Traffic Management (xTM).
Role Overview:
The xTM Engineering group develops prototypes and product concepts exploring topics related to the integration of uncrewed vehicles (drones, both large and small) and advanced air mobility (AAM) platforms into the global air traffic ecosystem. This includes services and infrastructure supporting UAS Traffic Management (UTM) and U-Space, including flight planning/authorisation, mission management, airspace situational awareness, airspace demand capacity balancing and air and ground risk mitigation capabilities.
As part of this newly formed team, you will be part of a globally distributed, diverse team of innovators solving some of the most exciting challenges happening in the global connected aviation ecosystem.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead in the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of front-end components of Angular-based service offerings in the xTM domain
Lead in the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of .NET/C# components of the service offerings
Collaborate with a globally distributed team members, customers, and other stakeholders on a variety of services for different markets and use cases to serve the emerging UAS and UAM/AAM markets
Contribute technological expertise and mentorship to the rest of the team
Travel to support conferences, customer meetings, and other activities (up to 10%)
Basic Qualifications / Skills:
Bachelor’s degree and prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, significant and proven relevant experience is required.
Must be a UK or EU Resident
Strong experience in Angular based web-service development
Strong experience in user interface design
Experience in .NET/C#
Strong experience in database schema design, deployment, and management of both SQL and No-SQL based databases
Significant experience with industry best practices for webservice development including version control, coding standards, agile development methodology, bug tracking, requirements refinement and validation, formal testing, and application deployment
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
Previous experience in the Air Traffic Management or UAS Domain
Knowledge of programming techniques for geospatial processing or other GIS background
Familiarity with the following technologies:
OpenLayers
RESTful APIs
Streaming protocols such as Protocol Buffers/gRPC
Rabbit MQ (or similar)
NGINX
Kendo Framework
Strong verbal and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
