Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Associate Director/Director in managing the structural engineering team
- Independently oversee projects and project teams
- Assume financial responsibility for assigned projects
- Prepare fee quotations and manage invoicing
- Manage staff and collaborate with other consultants
- Foster the development of the engineering and technician team
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and clients
- Conduct site visits, structural surveys, and investigations, addressing issues from fires to foundation challenges.
Person specifications:
To excel in this role, you likely possess a degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering and are preferably working towards or already chartered with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent. Additionally, you should:
- Have experience in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures to Eurocodes
- Demonstrate expertise in the residential market, covering both traditional and framed constructions
- Exhibit market commercial awareness with financial project management skills
- Possess experience in structural investigations in low-rise residential, medium-rise residential, and commercial markets
- Preferably, have experience in structural investigation and reporting related to the ‘Building Safety Act’
- Be familiar with Tekla software (Tekla Designer and Tedds), and ideally with AutoCAD/Revit
- Showcase strong leadership skills with the ability to influence both internally and externally
- Demonstrate previous management experience (advantageous)
- Possess decision-making abilities
- Be motivated, initiative-driven, and comfortable with autonomy, demonstrating an appetite for innovation.
