As the Flight Training Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping our training environment, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with business needs. Your primary challenges will include, maintaining high training standards while maximising throughput, driving continuous improvement for the 1200 A320 pilots and strategically building a team of trainers to meet the demands of our A320 fleet. You will lead a team of four Training Managers, 100 Training Appointment Holders and play a pivotal role in structuring the team, establishing clear lines of accountability and responsibility.
The A320 FTM has a critical role in building the future supply of pilots to BA. The first Speedbird Academy pilots will reach BA in 2025 and the A320 will continue to be a first Command for most. In that sense, this fleet sets the training and professional standards for the key parts of a BA pilots’ career.
Primary Duties:
- Drive and uphold high standards of training excellence
- Manage a dynamic training environment to optimise throughput.
- Work closely with key stakeholders, such as Ops Planning and the GLA
- Recruit and train new trainers to build a skilled and cohesive team.
- Establish clear lines of accountability and responsibility within the team.
- Oversee and manage the volume of training activities on the A320 fleet.
Requirements:
- Proven track record in aviation management, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
- Significant experience in flight training, ideally with a focus on the A320 aircraft.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of managers and trainers.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strategic thinking to address challenges and contribute to the growth of the training program.
- Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced aviation environment.
- Holder of a current ATPL and TRI rating
- Experience working in a regulated environment
