Job Description

As part of Bath Spa’s Arts and Humanities Research Council funded Impact Accelerator Account project, we are looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Impact Fellow to explore the theme of immersive experiences and their potential for meaningful impact, that has arisen within the project. This is an exciting opportunity for researchers from any disciplinary background to develop innovative impact and evaluation approaches that foreground the knowledge from Arts and Humanities disciplines.

(This is a Fixed Term Contract. The successful candidate will be able to choose whether to do 6 months full time or 1 year at 0.5)

About the Role

This postdoctoral impact fellowship explores the impact and potential evaluation strategies of immersive experiences (which can include immersive theatre and creative technology). Frequently when an immersive experience is facilitated through creative technology, the evaluation strategy may initially record the impact of the novel technology (over the impact of the content). In this project the aim is to better understand the opportunities for impact from such experiences, which allow for new or different engagement for audiences and participants. The role will involve mapping potential impact types and evaluating strategies currently employed. You’ll also support ongoing research and impact projects at Bath Spa, contributing to their evaluation. The position entails developing 1-2 case studies based on your research and creating valuable resources such as toolkits, methods, and tips for capturing the impact of projects using immersive methods.
About You

You will have the ability to independently conduct research using appropriate methods, as well as being a valued team member, possessing a good understanding of equitable impact and engagement practices. Your positive collaboration approach will extend to internal colleagues and external partners, showcasing excellent interpersonal, networking, and communication skills, along with proven problem-solving skills and excellent ICT proficiency.. The role will also involve producing research reports and publications for funding bodies and the wider academic community.
