Job description: The Financial Controller role is a pivotal position within the Accounting & Finance department reporting directly into the FD, providing financial expertise to an Academy Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the financial operations within the organisation.
- Contribute to the strategic financial planning and budgeting process.
- Produce accurate and timely financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Assist the auditors with the production of the annual statutory accounts (i.e. the provision of financial information) and ensure the annual statutory audit is completed by the required deadlines
- Management of monthly VAT return.
- Act as a financial advisor to the senior management team.
- Assist with board reporting to the Finance & Resource Committee
- Develop and implement robust financial policies and procedures.
- Identify areas for financial improvement, cost-reduction and efficiency.
- Manage and develop the finance team.
6 month FTC |Potential temporary to permanent role
The successful Financial Controller should have:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Ideally have experience of working in an academy trust
- Experience in managing financial operations
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, VAT and cost control principles.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong IT skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
