The Bid (Proposal) Writer works as part of a strategic sales team in the Pursuit Centre of Excellence (PCoE) to write and edit compelling and differentiated proposals and other content for our largest and most important sales opportunities. This role is a manager level opportunity.
You are somebody who writes for a living-this is a 100% writing role and writing is your core competency. As a Bid Writer you work on all editorial and narrative aspects of the bid. You focus on writing compelling proposals with an original, persuasive voice, synthesizing and articulating strategic messaging, and editing proposal content contributed by multiple team members.
In conjunction with Pursuit Coaches, Pursuit Leads and Graphic Designers (Creative Leads) located across the UK and Northern Europe, our writers develop compelling and differentiated content. As well as proposals, this can include scripting for sales videos and other media.
There are many opportunities to grow and develop your writing skills with the Pursuit Centre of Excellence. You will work with a wealth of experienced professionals and mentors across many geographies, writing materials for some of our most exciting global clients. You may occasionally be asked to travel for short periods to work with teams in some European countries or the Middle East.

- Write original content and develop sales messaging in a concise and clear manner.
- Draft executive summaries to capture and articulate strategic messaging established in the overall pursuit strategy. Tone must be compelling, persuasive, and professional. Work with senior team members to edit and refine content.
- Bring identified key messages into a narrative that differentiates our position and addresses the specific client need(s).
- Shape content written by others to be part of a cohesive narrative, written in one voice, so it is clear to the client audience yet maintains technical accuracy.
- Work collaboratively with the PCoE Team, client service pursuit leadership and firm leadership as you write and refine messaging and narrative.
- Take ownership of developing narrative components including the executive summary, CVs, and qualifications.
- Ask the right questions to get to relevant messaging in discussions with leadership.
- Demonstrate the ability to sift through a discussion and extract the most significant information and action items.
- Elevate risks and issues to the Pursuit Lead quickly and efficiently.
- Work with the Creative Lead to help them develop creative and informative graphics that integrate with the narrative.
- Provide quality control on the writing for all pursuit materials; comply with global writing style guide in proposals and presentations.

Technical skills and Experience:
Essentials
- Significant experience in bid/proposal writing for a professional services organization (consulting, legal, architecture/construction, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and multitask within a fast-paced, challenging, and deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp specialist knowledge and make it clear for external parties.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Agility and speed in executing strong writing.
- Strong executive presence.
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to “get smart quick” on a wide variety of topics.
- Superior Microsoft Office skills required.
Desirables
- Experience with narrative storytelling a plus.
- Experience with Public Sector a plus
- Experience working with teams in a professional services or large matrixed organization
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to manage own time and take initiative
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and synthesize content from many individuals
- Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, English/Humanities, Marketing, Management, or a related discipline or equivalent.
