Job description: Due to a sustained increase in complex and challenging ILS / IPS projects, RINA is hiring a Principal Consultant to join our established and growing Integrated Logistics Support team, within its Defence business unit. You will provide ILS consultancy to our Defence customers, ensuring equipment is delivered efficiently and to the optimum value, having developed through life support strategies. Reporting to the ILS Delivery Manager, you will be a key player in managing and developing the capability, not only delivering key client engagements, but developing and leading the less experienced members of the team, particularly when on projects. Our project portfolio is broad, delivering engagements across all domains including Air, Land, Sea and Space, including autonomous systems and complex simulation systems upgrades.

This role can be based out of our Chippenham, Lincoln or Leatherhead offices though RINA is smart/hybrid working organisation, so living within commuter distance of the office is not necessarily required. Moderate travel across the UK is required though.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage ILS / IPS and Service Support programmes through the full life cycle, ensuring ILS requirements are delivered on time, to budget, and to the required quality;
  • Seek opportunities within programmes to develop new business and work collaboratively with the business development team;
  • Accountable for managing and delivering a diverse range of ILS initiatives such as AR&M, Supportability Analysis (SA), Through Life Costing and Codification;
  • Develop and manage ILS and ILS Element Plans;
  • Support bids & proposals;
  • Assist with recruiting talent into the team;
  • Provide training and support to the team, especially new staff;
  • Assist the Capability Manager with developing new capability to meet emerging market demands.

Experience and qualifications:

  • At least 10 years commercial experience with some engineering services or consulting experience; or you will have gained relevant expertise from within the military;
  • Have a track record of building client trust, confidence and credibility; a trusted advisor in your trade;
  • Experience in the set up and management of ILS / IPS for UK Defence / MOD Programmes, whether they be air, land, sea and/or space related;
  • Business development from within existing client relationships;
  • Experience in AR&M Analysis, Supportability Analysis and/or WLC/LCC Analysis;
  • A technical qualification in an engineering discipline;
  • Some knowledge of ILS defence standards (including Def Stan 00-600, DLF (JSP886), Def Stan 00-40 series);
  • Good working knowledge of the UK MOD procurement processes;
  • Current valid UK SC clearance (You will either have SC clearance at point of employment, or have British citizenship and be willing to become security cleared).
