Director HSE, Aviation
Remote Based Role- Extensive Travel Requirements
Reports to the Sr. Director, Head of QHSSE & Technical Services for overseeing Aviation HSE globally. Oversight includes maintaining contracts with remediation vendors and monitoring/reporting progress and costs through completion. The role also includes supporting the physical operations with integration of acquired assets as needed. This position conducts HSE and operational audits of WFS assets in accordance with WFS HSE IMS guidelines and schedules.
Requirements
- Provides global strategic guidance to the Sr. Director, Head of QHSSE & Technical Services in relation to all matters HSE within GPO (A).
- Establishes/maintains contracts with remediation vendors to conduct known contamination at WFS legacy and acquired asset sites. Establishes KPI reporting and periodic reviews to ensure schedule and cost are being met. Conducts site visits as needed. Reports remediation progress and costs monthly to the Sr. Director, Head of QHSSE & Technical Services.
- Supports integration of acquired assets by communicating WFS HSSE IMS requirements and conducting training as needed.
- Ensures HSE audits of WFS assets are performed per schedule and protocols in the QHSSE IMS system. Reports findings and tracks action items to completion as directed.
- Helps drive the inculcation of WFS HSE principles and culture, primarily in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and Africa through training, consultation, and communication with all levels of the organization.
- Directs GPO (A) HSE staff from a functional perspective to ensure WFS HSE principles & procedures are correctly implemented.
- Hosts the monthly GPO(A) HSE review on behalf of the Sr. Director, Head of QHSSE & Technical Services.
- Review and comment and assist in the closure of all global commercial and supply contractual agreements to address HSE issues. Position holder works with the Sr. Legal Counsel and VP of Insurance in this effort (over 120 agreements per year).
- Maintains the GPO (A) global Risk Assessment Database.
- Maintains close liaison with Industry by means on attending courses and representing WFS on Industry committees e.g. JIG HSE Committee
- Manages the WFSU training platform for the GPO(A)
- Performs other work as assigned by the Sr. Director, Head of QHSSE & Technical Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position is vital in driving the inculcation of WFS HSE principles and culture in operations globally within the Aviation segment.
Geographic Scope & Travel Requirements
- Role is Home Based and can be located anywhere globally, preference is to be located in UK with access to the UK Office.
- Remit is global and travel frequency is High.
- Likely destinations are all WFS GPO (A) physical locations including those in austere environments such as Afghanistan.

- Ensuring Global HSE KPIs are met
- Completion of RAs and monitoring of Global Risk register
- Ensure that Global Training KPIs are met
- Effective guidance and monitoring of HSE Incidents
- Increase in quality & quantity of Near Miss reporting
- Meeting agreed ongoing objectives in the time agreed
- Successful HSE Inspection Programme completion
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS, BA, etc.) Desirable
Work Experience
- 10 years’ experience in petroleum products storage and distribution operations, safety, and environmental.
