PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel that is seeking a Food/Design & Technology Technician. Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ and the successful candidate will help deliver this for our schools. We currently have three schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019, and Bannockburn Primary School, a large successful primary that joined the Trust on 1st November 2023. We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational.
Following the success of our first ever Ofsted inspection at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls, we are looking for dedicated staff that will join us on our journey in delivering an outstanding education for all our students. Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Food Technician to join the Design and Technology (DT) Department. The post holder will assist the Head of DT, DT staff and students in a range of activities with the main focus being Food Nutrition and Preparation with occasional duties to support the department in managing resources and displays in other DT areas such as Graphics, Textiles and Product Design. Experience of working in a school environment would be beneficial as responsibilities will include preparation for and support in practical lessons for Key Stage 3 and 4.
We are seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic about practical work and highly skilled in their understanding of materials, equipment, and processes. They will also be enthusiastic about working with young people, helping support the aims of the department in encouraging young people to access STEM education and careers. The post holder will be asked to help supervise extra-curricular clubs or workshops as well as contribute to the pastoral life of the school.
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- A genuine passion for Cooking and Design & Technology
- All the necessary certification for use of equipment and Health and safety
- The ability to skilfully use a range of tools, equipment, and machinery
- Previous experience of maintaining and adjusting a range of machinery and recording of checks
- The ability to support practical workshop sessions with supervision, practical instruction, and demonstrations.
- The drive and enthusiasm to engage and inspire pupils.
- The dedication to improve the life chances of young people throughout the school.
