We are seeking to appoint teaching assistants to work with all the young people in our care at Stocklake Park School. Working as part of a team you will provide the support enabling all of our students to achieve the greatest possible level of independence and inclusion.

Salary Type: Bucks pay

Salary details: Bucks pay range 1-2 (point 6-15) Salary £13,956 to £16,476 (approx. gross) per annum (FTE £20,297 to £23,961 per annum)

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 30 Hours Per Week (08:45 to 15:15)

About us

Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Stocklake Park Secondary School is a special school which caters for students who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. There are currently 108 students at the main site. The school follows a primary model and is designed to meet individual educational needs and develop social and personal skills.

The curriculum is organised to give students the opportunity to experience and explore different subjects. We provide high quality education and care and students have access to a range of therapies, multi-agency professionals and a team of therapists who support students’ needs. We offer an excellent training package for staff together with a fantastic opportunity to become part of an innovative and forward thinking team who are providing a therapeutic and unique learning environment for its pupils.

All students have access to swimming at our primary site, a rebound centre and purpose built outdoor spaces including a MUGA (multi use games area) and playground equipment. We are close to bus and train links and on-site parking is available for staff.

About the role

Working under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior class staff this rewarding, and sometimes challenging role, will include supporting our students to access and engage with teacher led curriculum and learning activities.

The successful candidate will assist with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans carrying out work in the classroom or outside the main teaching area. Assisting with personal care, attending to hygiene needs and administering medication are also key tasks.

Comprehensive training is provided as appropriate to the role and continued professional development of our staff is encouraged.

About you

Resilience, common sense and a commitment to working as part of a team will make you an ideal candidate for this role. We are looking for people who have an appreciation of the positive attitudes needed to encourage independence in our students.

You will be able to communicate with all members of our school community liaising with other professionals in order to carry out recommendations required. A good working knowledge of ICT to be able to effectively support learning and a commitment to training is expected.
