We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and adaptable Student Support and Development Officer to lead our dedicated Student Support and Wellbeing team in the School of Medical Sciences.

The Student Support and Development Officer role is integral to the delivery of the School’s Student Wellbeing and Pastoral service.

You will be responsible for ensuring that an excellent level of service is provided to all our students as well as developing and maintaining working relationships with key internal and external partners and stakeholders (i.e. academics, NHS, Counselling Services, Disability Advice and Support Services) to ensure a collaborative approach to Student Wellbeing Support.

The Student Support and Wellbeing team are responsible for providing front-line welfare and pastoral support as well as being responsible for the operational delivery of mitigating circumstances, change of circumstances, and attendance and engagement monitoring.

You will be an experienced manager with excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate a team. You must also be able to demonstrate that you have a good understanding of academic and pastoral support procedures and processes in relation to the provision of postgraduate taught and/or undergraduate education and have experience of providing pastoral support to students.

This role currently has a hybrid working option. Please note that the Student Support and Development Officer role is primarily student-facing and therefore there is a requirement to work on campus a minimum of 3 days per week but may be up to 4 to 5 days per week when there is a business need.
