Condition of application: The University needs to appoint swiftly to this role, and the successful candidate needs to be available to begin as soon as possible in March 2024, for internal candidates you must therefore have prior approval from your line manager to be able to be released from your existing post in March 2024 and external candidates should consider the length of their notice period.

The University has embarked on an exciting new programme of work to replace its existing digital services offering in the HR, Finance and Procurement areas. We are the Digital Core (new HR, Finance and Procurement system) project and we have a new opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Officer to join our Digital Core Finance team to support our existing team of Subject Matter Experts as we continue to prepare for go-live.

The SME Officer role will support our SMEs across a number of areas of the project including trouble shooting, user acceptance testing, development of process / training documentation and related materials, and supporting go live preparation amongst other activities. This is a really exciting time to join the project as we progress towards go-live.

So who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who is numerate, organised and able to thoroughly organise their own work and communicate clearly. You need to have an interest in finance and a working knowledge of the risks and challenges facing finance teams. You will need to be comfortable working at pace; a strong problem solver who is able to bring others along with you and you will have excellent attention to detail. Your team working skills will also need to be stand out!

This is a full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term post to 31st August 2024. Applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
