February 2, 2024

Job Description

Job title: Non-Executive Directors – University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust

Company: Odgers Berndtson

Job description: We are a large and complex organisation, with a workforce of over 15,000 staff, delivering over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites serving a core population of more than 500,000 people. We have an annual income of over £1.2billion. We were rated as Good overall by the CQC, and Outstanding in the Caring domain following their latest inspection in 2022. Our mission as a Trust is to improve the health of the people we serve by delivering exceptional care, teaching and research, every day and our strategic vision is to anchor our future as a major specialist service centre and a beacon of excellence for education, work in partnership within our integrated care system, locally, regionally, and beyond and excel in world-class clinical research and our culture of innovation.

This is an exciting time to join our Board, in the context of our track record of performance and success, as well as recent developments which include the announcement of our strategic intention to move towards a Group Model with North Bristol NHS Trust, as part of our progressive acute provider collaborative. This move towards a Group Model will build on our strong heritage of working, improving, and innovating together for the benefit of both Trust’s shared communities.

We are seeking individuals who have a commitment to the communities we serve, and who can bring us experience of working in a large and complex organisation at a senior level. Given our requirements for these new Non-Executive Directors to serve as Chairs of two board committees – the People Committee and the Audit Committee, we are specifically seeking candidates who have senior human resources, people or organisational development leadership experience, or financial/audit experience. Above all, you will have the motivation and enthusiasm to make a real difference to the wellbeing and social inclusion of the people using the Trust’s services and lead in line with our values.

Applications would be particularly welcomed from candidates from a diverse background as the Trust Board has identified a need to expand its representation of protected characteristics to enhance its decision making.

Closing date for applications is Monday 12th February 2024.
