Service Manager (Cleaning)

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of your role will be to provide high standards of cleaning services for our designated customers, while also providing leadership to the cleaning team leaders for the co-ordination and delivery of contracted cleaning across various Bristol sites.

You will need to take full ownership and accountability for the activities within the role, including the Implementation and training of Management Systems, ensuring all activities are undertaken in compliance with Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) requirements.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Coordination:

  • Provide dynamic leadership to cleaning team leaders, ensuring efficient coordination and delivery of contracted cleaning services across multiple sites.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, cultivating a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Operational Ownership:

  • Take full ownership and accountability for all aspects of the role, including implementing and training on Management Systems.
  • Ensure activities adhere to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) requirements, demonstrating a commitment to compliance and best practices.

Client Engagement and Audits:

  • Conduct regular audits with clients to assess and enhance the quality of cleaning services.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to client relationships, promptly addressing concerns, and implementing improvements based on client feedback.

Employee Management and Development:

  • Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with direct reports, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Lead Monthly Team Briefs to foster communication, alignment, and a shared sense of purpose within the larger team.

Employee Recognition and Well-being:

  • Actively promote and contribute to the reward and recognition scheme, celebrating the achievements of the team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to employee well-being, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

Emergency Response and Management Reporting:

  • Participate in Out of Hours Call Out on a rotating basis, ensuring effective resolution of emergency situations.
  • Generate comprehensive management reports to track and communicate key performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure site(s) health and safety compliance, implementing measures to mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve safety protocols and procedures.

Operations Team Leadership:

  • Lead the Operations Team to ensure the smooth running of waste and facilities management operations, meeting agreed SLAs.
  • Maintain service level standards, workflow targets, and enhance the quality of customer interactions.
  • Coach and develop high-performing teams, handling recruitment, learning and development, and setting objectives and development plans.
  • Agree on service standards for the team and report on them.

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • Proven experience and competence in Business Management.
  • Experience in handling difficult customer service situations/ conflict and ability to bring complaints/ issues to resolution.
  • Able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication at all levels.
  • Good teamworking skills and the confidence to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and champion changes with senior colleagues.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
  • A problem-solving approach to work.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to handle complex information, securely and confidentially.
  • Advanced IT and Microsoft office skills including email spreadsheets and databases.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads.
  • Being highly organised and detail-orientated is a given.
  • A can-do attitude.
