The Corporate Finance team are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant – Group, on a permanent basis.  You will work with colleagues across the Corporate Finance team, and other Finance teams across the University, developing your financial accounting skills.

What you will be doing

The key function of the post is to ensure we meet internal and external reporting deadlines.

You will be involved in monthly reporting, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.  You will develop your technical accounting knowledge as we complete financial statements and other regulatory returns, and your business partnering experience will deliver financial results to internal customers, focusing on the group level results.

You will be involved with our year-end reporting preparations and completion, and you will be a key point of contact for audit requests.

Who you are

  • You are a qualified accountant or studying towards your accountancy qualification (ACA, CA, ACCA, or equivalents).
  • You are able to define priorities and work flexibly and effectively under pressure to meet demanding and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • You have previously prepared monthly management accounts and/or financial statements.
  • You have previously managed professional relationships, both internally and externally to your organisation
  • As a person, you have a natural curiosity, enjoy detail and accuracy, and you easily build good relationships with your team and colleagues.

We are the Corporate Finance team, a small team that sits within a much larger Financial Control and Financial Management team. We are a busy, diverse and vibrant team, looking after the month-end and year-end processes and reporting, audit and regulatory control and reporting, cash and treasury management.
