We have an exciting permanent opportunity to join our Manchester manufacturing site to lead our Safety, Quality, Security and Environment (SQSE) team.
What will this role achieve?
Alongside the team responsibilities, the role holder will lead the Food Safety, Product Quality, Hygiene and Pest Control, and process integrity for the site in accordance with pladis central policies and procedures. You will provide the site with value adding SQSE team services including the management of Quality systems, Food Safety, Pest Control, Site Hygiene, Internal audits and inbound material standards. Additionally, this role will support the site in resolving issues, incidents and events and in the delivery of compliance to all Legal, pladis, Retailer and other relevant external Standards.
What will be your key deliverables?
- Facilitates the implementation of the Central SQSE strategy on site.
- Lead the maintenance of site SQSE systems to the standards determined by the Central SQSE team and by regulatory bodies.
- Drives adherence to and continuous improvement of the relevant site systems, standards and procedures.
- Has a key role in loss prevention, investigations and reporting results. Is a crucial member of the site CIM (Crisis & Incident Management Team),
- Ensures development of knowledge for self, team and site members, both to achieve / maintain relevant and appropriate SQSE qualifications and to keep up to date with legislative changes and their impact on the site/business.
- Is a member of the site’s Leadership team and provides effective leadership and co-ordination of the SQSE team resources within the site to ensure they are prepared to lead all relevant compliance issues and challenges.
- In conjunction with the Central / Regional SQSE Manager, collaborates closely with all external accreditation bodies, local Environmental Health Officers (EHOs), Trading Standards Officers (TSOs), pladis Consumer Services Team and pladis Retail customers.
- Responsible for coordinating the sites compliance validation processes by internal and external bodies including Central pladis audits, Customer Audits, BRC, SEDEX and any other bodies agreed with the pladis Central SQSE team.
- Supports Manufacturing teams in ensuring compliance and issue resolution arising from internal and external audits. Co-ordinates the issue close out documentation and reporting.
- Coaches / advises managers in the implementation of robust compliance initiatives, processes, and tools and facilitate timely delivery of objectives.
- Runs the site SQSE budgets and actively seeks out opportunities for cost reduction.
- Facilitates the SQSE Capital spend for the site and the creation of the SQSE Capital list focusing on gap analysis and continuous improvement.
Bring your experience
Essential
- Proven QA or Food Safety experience with confidence working at a managerial role in a FMCG environment
- Formal Auditing Qualification
- ISO lead auditor
- Level 4 Food Safety
- Level 4 HACCP
- Resilience and agility to lead a constantly evolving environment
- Experience working with individuals at different levels across a range of functions
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Effective communication and influencing skills
- Purpose-led and positive approach to keep the team spirited and motivated
Desirable
- Multiple site experience
- Previous line management experience
- Degree in HSE or Food / Science based subject
