Key responsibilities:

In this role you will be responsible for developing, managing, directing, and controlling the Engineering and Maintenance function in line with the DHL Focus strategy. In this role your responsibilities will be varied, however, please see a summary below:

  • Member of the H&G Country Management Board
  • Supporting the DHL Focus strategy (short and long-term) aligned to the H&G country business priorities.
  • Champion Portfolio Mgt. for Business Initiatives, building strong relationships with the H&G MD and Senior Management Team to resolve issues in priority or funding conflicts between programs.
  • Influence innovation – this will be increasingly critical.

Responsible for three core teams:

  • Process Engineering – reporting, forecasting, capacity planning, efficiency opportunities
  • Technical Engineering – solution design, costing, BCA creation, tender, implementation, testing, GO Live
  • Sort Maintenance – maintaining material handling system (reactive and preventative, continuous improvement efficiency to improve technical availability)

Departmental Management:

  • Responsible for three core teams:
  • Process Engineering – reporting, forecasting, capacity planning, efficiency opportunities
  • Technical Engineering – solution design, costing, BCA creation, tender, implementation, testing, GO Live
  • Sort Maintenance – maintaining material handling system (reactive and preventative, continuous improvement efficiency to improve technical availability

Departmental Management:

  • Direct, lead and motivate the Maintenance and Engineering teams, including recruitment, retention, monitoring performance and day to day management
  • Responsible for 3 direct reports (functional heads) with a total of c.60+ people across EMA, LHR and LTN
  • Actively seek to develop future leaders for succession planning
  • Determine the organisational structure, roles, critical success factors and goals
  • Ensure development of a comprehensive training plan for direct reports and wider department
  • Evaluate the performance of direct reports and ensure that the same is done for others in department
  • Drive EOS across the department
  • Engineering:
  • Gather and analyse operational requirements – draft, tender and implement new/refined process or solutions
  • Review and analyse volume forecasts and FTE forecast for budgeting purposes.
  • Monitor all key operational areas regarding capacity constraint and act to initiate, analyse and implement infrastructure projects well in advance before operational capacity is being reached.
  • Establish solid processes that allow for operational standardisation with regards to methods, operational process compliance and performance KPI’s
  • Establish smart processes to monitor KPI’s through SQL databases and utilization of Power BI or other.

Maintenance:

  • Develop and deliver the Maintenance Strategy, ensuring policy/procedures are aligned with the business strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement for KPI’s
  • Manage the business and process analysis to ensure Maintenance delivers solutions with real business value.
  • Lead change management and benefit tracking to ensure that Maintenance solutions are effectively deployed.
  • Embed a business results-driven service culture that routinely establishes and monitors KPI’s
  • Establish solid processes to maintain appropriate stock levels of critical spare parts.
  • Ensure reliable processes are in place to replenish stock and decide whether items fall under warranty or not.
  • Monitor and manage all contracts and SLAs for maintenance contractors.
  • Own department budget and forecasts; ensure budget optimisation and achievement
  • Implement and manage the portfolio/program/project management processes and tools.
  • Maintain relationships and share experience with other DPDHL functions and organisations
