Role overview

Ipsos Public Affairs are the leaders in social research. We bridge the gap between government and the public, providing robust research and analysis. With offices in 90 markets, Ipsos brings together research, implementation, methodological, and subject-matter experts from around the world, combining thematic and technical experts globally with local knowledge to deliver top-quality research.

Our Transport & Infrastructure team provides robust evidence and strategic insights to policy makers, government bodies and agencies, transport operators and not-for-profit organisations. This includes clients in the road and rail sectors, aviation and active travel.

Our work also spans key cross-cutting areas that are integral to the way our transport and infrastructure system operates and is used. This includes environmental sustainability and decarbonisation, the role of transport in society and communities, active travel and public health and wellbeing, safety, the impact of transport and infrastructure developments on businesses and the economy, and local and regional development.

What will I be doing?

We are looking for a Graduate Research Executive to join our team and support us in delivering high-quality research and evidence for our clients.

As a Graduate Research Executive, you will start working on live projects in the team. You will gain exposure to the Transport and Infrastructure policy area, research methodologies, and our clients, whilst working alongside industry experts. In this role, you will:

  • Work with both quantitative and qualitative data, supporting research projects from inception and design through to data delivery and reporting
  • Learn about our transport clients and the transport sector, how it affects the world around us and how our research can support our clients in driving positive change
  • Learn and employ key project management skills – you will support the end-to-end project life cycle including contributing to and attending client briefings, working according to agreed timescales, and liaising with suppliers and our fieldwork specialists about project timings and key deliverables
  • Support the research design – for example, you will contribute to questionnaire and topic guide development, and conduct script and data checks
  • Contribute to outputs by being involved in the development of code-frames, table specifications, presentations and reports
  • Build your awareness and start applying quality and safety procedures on projects in accordance with Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct requirements
  • Help us think about how we can deliver our conclusions and recommendations in an engaging and meaningful way
  • Deploy innovative and creative research methodologies whilst upholding the most robust standards of social research.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • A passion and enthusiasm for the type of research and work our team delivers; we love seeing the impact of our work in our clients’ publications and events.
  • A hunger to unpick questions into their constituent parts, to diagnose opportunities and be able to influence decisions.
  • A positive ‘can do attitude’ and a proactive approach to work.
  • The ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast pace working environment.
  • Exceptional organisational skills as well as the ability to multi-task and work towards multiple deadlines.
  • The ability to work creatively and think commercially with a curiosity and drive to learn, understand and improve, using trouble-shooting skills to think on your feet.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to listen effectively, identify key information and communicate clearly and in a timely manner.
  • An understanding of the transport sector is desirable but not essential.

Along with…

  • The unrestricted right to work in the UK
