Job description: The Development team sit within the wider IT department in this firms central Manchester head office. They have an opportunity for a Data Engineer or Data Analyst who will be responsible for collecting and analysing data to identify trends, and provide key stakeholders or management with valuable information that they can use to improve marketing, operational and businesses practices.
The main responsibilities of this integral role include identifying, gathering and analysing data, and making insights accessible to the company through easy-to-understand graphs, charts, tables and reports.
Responsibilities
This role is much more than collecting and analysing data. The successful individual will also have to make this data accessible to those who need the information to streamline business processes, and the day-to-day tasks will include:
- Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
- Organising and transforming information into comprehensible structures
- Using data to predict trends in the client base and the firm as a whole
- Performing statistical analysis of data
- Using Tableau/PowerBI tools and techniques to visualise data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
- Preparing reports and presenting these to management or key stakeholders
- Identifying and recommend new ways to improve the data being captured to further improve the reports produced
- Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
- Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
Skills required
- Tableau (essential) – Tableau server/Tableau Cloud and extensive knowledge of Tableau desktop
- Power BI – Data visualisation and modelling
- Knowledge of relevant relational databases
- T-SQL and data mining
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server
- Solid understanding of data sources, data organisation and storage
- In depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
Education: 2:1 or above in IT/Computing or a relevant degree
Experience: 3-5 years required in a relevant role
Expected salary: £45000 – 55000 per year
