Network Planning sits at the heart of the airline determining where we fly, when we fly and with what aircraft. As Network Insights Analyst, you will play an important role in supporting this.
About the role
This role incorporates both regular analysis and forecasting updates pursuant to the financial and business plan reporting cycle and ad-hoc analytical projects relating to specific business issues and opportunities. The role will also allow you to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across British Airways & IAG and to continuously develop your own analytical skills and expertise. Key accountabilities of the role include:
- Interrogating and analysing data to provide insight, highlight issues and opportunities, and recommend appropriate action to be taken to deliver BA’s network plan;
- Undertaking ad-hoc analytical projects to drive insight on specific business issues/opportunities leading to tactical or strategic actions to be taken;
- Building, maintaining and managing the development and delivery of regular and bespoke reports and models to support decision-making, automating as much as possible to enable teams to access and understand key measures and metrics efficiently;
- Regularly presenting detailed findings to key stakeholders to enable effective strategic decision making;
- Delivering concise and effective management information to keep the BA Leadership Team informed of the network outlook;
- Playing an integral role in planning processes, delivering key targets and forecasts across the business;
- Supporting the process for quoting for ad-hoc and series charters, including process improvements;
- Acting as the conscience of the business, challenging and influencing decisions, to ensure that actions taken are the best for the airline;
- Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues across British Airways & the group;
- Continuously developing own analytical expertise and shares analytical best practice within wider network team; and
- Undertaking other duties appropriate to the role when required by business needs.
About you
- numerate degree or proven numerical aptitude in a similar role
- expertise in using Excel and SQL or other data retrieval and manipulation tools (or a proven aptitude to learn);
- excellent written and verbal communication skills (including presentation skills);
- excellent understanding of the BA network and fleet, markets and competitors (desirable)
- good understanding of aviation business, airline economics, and the commercial, operational and financial drivers of the airline, group, alliances and joint businesses (desirable)
- good working knowledge of the main in house (BA) systems related to commercial, and cost data (desired)
