Airport Dimensions
Airport Dimensions is the division within Collinson that owns and operates airport lounges as well as other travel experiences. We currently have 57 lounges in the US, UK, the Middle East, South America, and Hong Kong in our portfolio, with a strong pipeline of additions for 2024 that will not only increase the size of our business but will also take us into new regions.
We manage and operate our lounges through a combination of direct ownership and joint ventures, where we find a partner that we believe can add value to the operation.
Our revenue derives from lounge visit fees, and we have a range of operating costs to serve our customers and maintain the lounge.
Our primary customer for visits to our lounges is Priority Pass (and other Collinson lounge programs), but we also have external clients in the airline and wider travel industry.
We are a small, hard-working and committed team that works closely together within our London, Dallas, Singapore, and Mumbai offices.
Purpose of the role:
The primary aim of this role is to undertake analysis and make evidence-based recommendations to identify and exploit commercial opportunities and to address and mitigate problems facing the Airport Dimensions division at a Global and Regional level. Examples of these may include:
- Assessing demand for new lounges at airports where space exists, evaluating the size of lounge needed to meet that demand over the period of a lease, and forecasting the resulting revenue.
- Working with subject matter experts both within the business and at our suppliers to estimate costs to enable us to project detailed financial forecasts for all new lounge opportunities.
- Producing financial models for internal sign off detailing the expected financial performance of opportunities, including sensitivity and cashflow analysis. Preparing presentation for the AD Board and Investment Committee on these opportunities and recommendations on the way forward.
- Reviewing current commercial performance with a view to understanding key drivers and to identifying trends, with a view to constantly improving the accuracy of our forecasting.
- Contributing towards the budgeting and re-forecasting processes to deliver the most accurate results.
- Ad hoc projects to assess the commercial returns for a range of initiatives, such as lounge refurbishments, in-lounge premium offers etc.
You will work closely with the rest of the Commercial team to drive forward key projects across the entire spectrum of the Airport Dimensions division, collaborating with global and regional stakeholders to gather information, make recommendations and seek alignment to get them delivered. Regular external (client) contact is expected.
This will typically mean working simultaneously on a broad range of commercial problems that impact multiple functions within the business and that are likely to be challenges that have no “one right answer” so evaluating context, options, balanced implications, and recommendations will be critical.
Knowledge, skills & experience needed:
- Strategic mindset
- Experience of managing and analysing large datasets.
- Strong commercial modelling skills (including very strong Excel skills in particular with the mindset to use these effectively)
- Problem-solving ability, using both creative and/or structured thinking, as necessary.
- Collaborative, easy to work with
- A good communicator (use and awareness of verbal and non-verbal, presenting, PPT)
- Experience of forming hypotheses, delivering business cases, and tying customer experience and client opportunities to business value
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, with changing priorities and demands.
- Experience of f the aviation industry – airports, airlines, routes, and traffic patterns would be beneficial.
