Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Global Politics at The University of Manchester
Job Description
To further strengthen our research and teaching portfolio the Department wishes to appoint a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Global Politics.
You will be based in Critical Global Politics, the largest of five research clusters in the Department. Enhanced by eight appointments over the recent REF cycle, the shared themes of Critical Global Politics include: critical theories of international politics; gender and security; war, intervention and the responsibility to protect; identity, racialisation, and migration; peace and conflict studies; and China. Until recently the cluster hosted the Review of International Studies, and has in recent years been the recipient of numerous grants and awards including a £5m donation to support the Manchester China Institute, a large ESRC grant on immigration and Chinese society and a prize for research within the cluster on the UN Security Council. The cluster sits within the larger Department of Politics, whose research strengths are reflected, among other things, in the 2021 REF in which the Department was placed 8th out of 56 in the UK on Grade Point Average (GPA), 5th on publications and 3rd on 4* publications.
Applicants must have a relevant PhD and demonstrate the ability to produce high quality internationally excellent publications, meet flexible curricular and teaching needs, and demonstrate capability to contribute organisationally to the wider School community.
