We are looking for a Transport Manager to join our UK Linehaul transport operation. You will report to the Linehaul Director and support the strategic planning and execution of our road network, covering over 800 movements per day between our distribution centres and over 40 service centres nationwide.

You will be responsible for:

  • Strategically planning for seasonal volume changes to ensure consistent and achievable schedules are in place.
  • Developing and identifying performance metrics to assist with driving operating efficiencies.
  • Analysing and providing innovative solutions to service issues.
  • Maintaining the operating license and adhering to country laws and regulations, company and third-party rules and standards, and customs / import / export procedures.
  • Supporting the effective implementation and deployment of regional and country projects, programmes and initiatives within the Linehaul function.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on UK Linehaul service performance and ensuring corrective actions and measures are in place.
  • Guiding and leading the transport planners to achieve SMART objectives.
  • Managing and developing a motivated workforce through timely feedback and regular 121’s.
  • Demonstrating and living Respect and Results behaviours.

  • Showing equal appreciation and different talents and skills within the team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge in operational systems and processes within national and European logistics environment.
  • Transport operational knowledge (CPC/WTD/Highway code/Tacho).
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications.
  • Good at establishing working relationships and developing personal contacts.
  • Strong personal influencing and consultative skills.
  • Routing and scheduling software.
  • Good analytical and commercial awareness.
  • Self-motivation with good judgement and decision-making qualities.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
