Job description: LASC Childcare Services – Loanhead Community Nursery – Room Supervisor
Working 38 hour per week over 4 days (Monday to Friday) in our Community Nursery in Loanhead.
LASC Childcare Services LTD are a leading childcare provider for early years and out of school care in Midlothian with childcare settings in Loanhead, Bilston, Roslin and Rosewell. We also provide care for children and young adults with a diverse range of support needs.
LASC are currently looking to recruit two experienced, enthusiastic, Room Supervisors to join our well-established team.
Our Nursery
Loanhead Community Nursery is one of our two small community nurseries. We have outdoor gardens for all ages to enjoy, directly accessible from each room. Our proximity to surrounding woodlands and play parks enhances our range of outdoor experiences.
There are excellent bus links to the nursery, and free car parking is also available.
Support is provided by our strong leadership team.
The role of Room Supervisor:
- Day to day running of the playroom.
- Supporting the staff team, parents, and children.
- Keeping children’s care plans and chronologies up to date.
- Organising planning, evaluations, and evidence to support children’s learning.
- Working with the Management Team to support the Nursery Improvement Plan.
- As a qualified Nursery Practitioner, you will be demonstrating your knowledge and best practice to colleagues, the children and families attending LASC and acting as a role model.
- As a key worker you will ensure every individual child’s needs are met.
- Safeguarding children is your priority – speaking up against practices that don’t support safeguarding or our core values.
- Working in partnership with parents.
- Support parents with any ASL needs.
- Embrace and promote our Standards of Excellence in every part of your role.
- A key member of the team planning and implementing daily/ weekly activities to meet the children’s individual learning needs.
- Create a setting that is clean and welcoming with well- kept educational resources.
- Ensure that children’s observations are detailed, reflective and provide developmentally challenging next steps.
- Working as part of our team, adhering to our childcare policies, to provide the best care and early years experiences possible.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
· Minimum SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Early Years/ Childhood Practice.
· Previous experience working and caring for children under 5.
· Passion to deliver high quality childcare and exciting learning opportunities.
· Willing to work towards SCQF Level 8 Childhood Practice
· 3 years’ experience in Childcare is preferred.
