Job description: Here at IMG we are pleased to announce that we are looking for a Medical Director based out of our Redhill Office working either Remotely or on a Hybrid basis with a competitive salary of £140,000 – £160,000 (Depending on Experience). The UK Medical Director is an essential part of the wider medical team supporting IMG’s business. They support all assistance operations in the UK and US.

The UK Medical Director is an essential part of the wider medical team supporting IMG’s business. They support all assistance operations in the UK and US as well as participating in the on call rota on a 1: 3 basis (actually two weeks on call in every six weeks). They support the nursing staff in their decision making, claims in complex medical assessments, the DBA team in the management of return to work and MMR determinations and a variety of other activities as required.
In the broadest terms, the Medical Officer’s responsibility is supporting IMG’s Chief Medical Officer in the delivery of clinical services. These are provided by doctors and nursing officers from various locations in the US and UK. The successful candidate will be expected to periodically travel to our medical and operational hubs in Indianapolis USA, Cardiff and Redhill in the UK and elsewhere as new services and products are developed and so proximity to Redhill, Cardiff or Indianapolis, is preferable.
Physicians in the company have a leadership role and we expect direct involvement in case management, documentation and decision making both within and, when on call, outside office hours.
There is a ‘one in three’ on call rota to take referrals from our Operations and Medical teams. Throughout these periods it is expected that Physicians are proactive, document their discussions with treating teams abroad, give clear direction and escalate cases to the Chief Medical Officer when required. They will also assume direct responsibility for the clinical aspects of transfers being undertaken during these periods.

What does a day in the life of a Medical Director at IMG look like:
- The development and management of our portfolio of travel and medical insurance products.
- The delivery of global assistance and patient transfer services.
- Management of DBA and International workers compensation cases.
- Delivery of a company wide governance and clinical quality improvement programme.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of our global provider network.
What We`re Looking for:
- Candidates must hold full clinical registration / license to practice in the jurisdiction (Required).
- Hold additional qualifications (or have significant experience) in acute medical specialties (Emergency Medicine, Anesthetics, Critical Care or other acute specialties).
- Experience in the delivery of assistance services, aviation medicine, travel and tropical medicine or clinical risk management would be advantageous.
