Up to £24,309 per annum, pro rata

Please note that this opportunity is being offered as a Fixed Term Contract or Secondment, for a period of 24 months.

The position is a part time role, offering 18.5 hours per week (0.5 Full Time Equivalent) with time worked each day, Monday to Friday, in the afternoons (4pm finish at the earliest).

The Opportunity

Adult Community Learning (ACL) is ECC’s provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents. ACL offers qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances. The service focuses many of its programmes and activities on the hardest to reach communities within Essex. ACL learners have access to a diverse range of accredited and non-accredited courses which encourage creativity, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and engagement.

The Customer Assistant will deliver high quality reception duties, providing information, advice and guidance to adult learners. Maintaining electronic records and processing enrolments and registrations.

The role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to use systems to accurately record data and key information about our learners.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver high quality “first point of contact” customer services, to positively promote ACL, by efficiently handling customer enquiries and providing information, advice and guidance.
  • Positively promote service activities by efficiently handling customer enquiries to provide information and advice.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate processing of enrolments and registrations to deliver excellent customer service in line with defined procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date, secure records on electronic systems, accurately record, monitor and tracking data onto TERMS.
  • Adhere to quality assurance processes, responsible for the monitoring/recording/tracking and/or collection of all relevant documentary evidence, required for audit purposes.
  • Responsible for collection, receipt and security of monies and payment systems to contribute to the effective processing of income and expenditure.
  • Contribute to the management of centre accommodation, to meet specific needs of individual groups and maximise space.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Good working knowledge of IT and in particular Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience of accurate input of data with the ability to review, amend and produce management information.
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment, with good communication skills to engage with adults.
  • Ability to encourage participation and engagement, ideally with Adult learners.
  • Educated to level 2 (GCSE) in Business Administration, or equivalent by experience.
  • Ability to develop skills within role.
  • Requirement to travel between centers as and when needed – driving license desirable.
