Job description: Cengage Group is seeking a full-time warehouse Operative to ensure the safe receipt, handling and storage of Product and the accurate and timely picking and packing and shipping of customer orders.

The ideal candidate has warehouse experience and a Physical strength, fitness and dexterity in picking and lifting packages or working at extreme heights. They will posses as a minimum GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.

Line Reports: N/A

Based: On-site in Andover, Hampshire

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to ensure the safe receipt, handling and storage of Product and the accurate and timely picking and packing and shipping of customer orders.

This will involve manual handling of Product and the use of Packing Machinery, Materials and Equipment, Radio Frequency Handheld Scanner Units (RF) and the use of Computer. Working as part of team whose tasks are advised by the Warehouse Manager and Supervisor assisted by a Warehouse Management System and Conveyor System.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all Products when received or picked match the relevant paperwork.
  • Put away, picking, and packing Product using RF units.
  • Lift and handle Products following manual handling safety and guidelines.
  • Use of Machinery once trained and authorised to do so by Warehouse Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining a reasonable level of cleanliness within the area of work.
  • Being responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mechanical devices.
  • Work to key performance indicators of each section / department.
  • Ensure efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, health & safety policies, rules, and schedules.
  • Treat products with care always
  • Follow the principles and policies outlined within the Company Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
  • Promote civility and courtesy to colleagues and customers internal and external
  • Promote Company’s Ethos and Credo.

Key Relationships:

Internal: Other Warehouse colleagues, stock control colleagues, Customer Service, Inventory and Manufacturing

External: Transport Drivers

Crucial Role Requirements:

Experience/Achievements

  • Some warehousing experience.
  • Comfortable working at heights.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Physical strength, fitness and dexterity in picking and lifting packages or working at extreme heights.
  • Good team-working skills to optimally collaborate with other members of a warehouse team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read instructions from a handheld device to identify location codes.
  • Able to record information accurately if required.
  • Digital literacy, and proficient at using RF handheld scanners.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work optimally under limited supervision

Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade C or higher/equivalent in English and Maths

Desirable Role Requirements:

Experience/Achievements

  • Willing to train on VNA high lift forklift trucks

Qualifications

  • Valid Reach Forklift Truck qualification (training provided for high lift truck licence)
  • High lift truck licence or reach/counterbalance
