Job description: Part Time Cook – Leyland Court, Southend-on-Sea

Monday – Friday 9am or 9:30am to 2pm or 2:30pm (25 hours per week)

The Role:

We’re looking for a part time cook to join Leyland Court, a sheltered service for 24 elderly residents in central Southend (free parking is available on site). The key purpose is to plan, prepare and cook a high-quality, nutritious lunchtime meal and dessert to the people who live at Leyland Court.

If you are a positive and enthusiastic person who can develop relationships with our residents and ensure meals are cooked in line with their wishes this could be the role for you. You will have the freedom to create menus through discussion with the residents. The residents enjoy themed dinner days so you can be creative, and they would love to see homemade cakes back on the menu! There is some flexibility on the start and finish time as outlined.

Working in conjunction with the service’s scheme manager, the cook will be responsible for providing nutritious meals for our residents, ensuring that individual choice and dietary requirements are catered for, and an excellent standard of health, safety and cleanliness is always upheld.

The successful candidates will possess previous experience in a cooking or catering role; knowledge Health and Safety and COSHH regulations alongside a food hygiene certificate (or willingness to work towards a certificate) are also essential. Previous experience within a care home/healthcare setting would be desirable. The team are looking for someone who can use a computer e.g. for online training, or to complete an online food order.

We are also looking for someone who can demonstrate good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and a commitment to upholding the rights, privacy and dignity of people with disabilities.
