Job description: The role

The Community Practice Educator will act as line manager and practice supervisor for health visiting students and provide professional and clinical leadership for the 0-19 service. The post holder will be expected to contribute and influence local and regional developments in Health Visiting and Children & Young People’s Nursing. In addition, will take a key role in transformational change and take the lead role in educating students and make a significant contribution to the education of the wider workforce.

About you

We are looking for someone who is willing and committed to providing:-

  • a high standard of training, support and development of our health visiting students, newly qualified and newly joined health visitors and children and young people’s nurses.
  • Will hold a practice teacher or equivalent qualifications to allow them to formally sign off specialist practitioner health visitor students, or be willing to complete this training when they start in post.
  • clinical leadership of a Children’s public health workforce to ensure that each member of the Children’s Health team is competent, able to meet the needs of our children, young people and their families and operate to high standards.
  • support to staff in the localities who are teaching, assessing and mentoring others.
  • working with the leadership team other senior colleagues to ensure that our workforce have the skills and are competent to meet the needs of our children, young people and their families now and in the future.

You will also possess sound theoretical and up to date and evidence-based knowledge of health visiting and the Public Health Outcomes Framework, be highly skilled in competency assessment and committed to ensuring national and professional quality standards are maintained. In addition you will be signed up to innovation and new ways of working demonstrate a readiness to adapt to new initiatives in a culturally and professionally diverse setting.
