Integrated Logistics Support Engineering Apprentice

Graduate Level Apprenticeship in Design and Manufacture

Our exciting Integrated Logistics Support Engineering Apprentice role will establish and develop your skills to become a confident, positive and flexible engineer with well-honed technical knowledge across multiple domains. You will support the team to deliver solutions to deadlines and within budget, including influencing design decisions for the supportability of our products and ensuring the dependable reputation of Thales equipment for our customers.

As an Integrated Logistics Support Engineering Apprentice you will develop key skills and experience in the following:

  • Statistical analysis of reliability including calculation and prediction
  • Determination and influence of key maintainability and human factor characteristics with consideration for end-users and maintainers at the front-line of defence
  • Mathematical modelling of Lifecycle costs and maintenance requirements
  • Capturing crucial logistic information for products to enable repairs & spares
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplined engineering development environment
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools, aircraft, ship and vehicle and sensor systems and training simulator systems
  • Application of industry leading software tools (Systecon’s OPUS10 & SIMLOX, Isograph, Raytheon Eagle LSAR, etc.) to facilitate multi-domain analyses
  • Domain specific knowledge and application of mathematics skills to model the support systems

Degree Apprenticeship Programme:

Through our Graduate Level Apprenticeship you’ll be making the most of your talents, getting to understand support engineering from the ground up; and doing so with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry.

As an Integrated Logistics Support Engineering Apprentice you will be studying at University of Strathclyde towards a degree in Design & Manufacture BEng (Hons). For the duration of this four year programme you will combine university studies with practical application, working within our Software function in Glasgow.

You will be given one day per week in which to focus on your studies. For the other four days you will be working in the business, applying your university learning in a real-life engineering environment.

Upon completion of the programme you will move into a permanent role within Thales in Glasgow.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. You will be a self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve a degree qualification.

Entry requirements:

AABB Highers, including Maths and another STEM subject. Please note that if your Highers are not gained in 2024, you will be required by the university to sits a Math assessment before your application is accepted.

Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the four-year programme.

Please note, assessment centres for shortlisted candidates will be held between February and May 2024. Induction week for all Graduate and Apprentices will commence on Monday 2 September until Friday 6 September 2024

To gain full SC, you must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 12 months. As part of the vetting process you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, eligibility to work in the UK, time spent abroad over the last 5 years, as well as employment and/ or educational history.
