About the role
We are seeking an accomplished Academic Dean to provide strategic direction and innovative leadership for our esteemed Faculty of Education & Society.
In this role, you will lead the Faculty in achieving ambitious goals for student recruitment, engagement, success, and staff development. Your responsibilities extend to shaping faculty portfolio and fostering an environment aligned with the University’s values. The Academic Dean will develop and deliver a comprehensive strategic plan in alignment with the University’s 2020-25 Strategic Plan. A commitment to role modelling the University’s values is paramount to ensure each staff member reaches their potential. You will ensure a high-quality student experience across diverse learner groups. Spearheading the development of innovative program content, including interdisciplinary degrees and degree apprenticeships, will be a key focus.
Enhancing the reputation of the Faculty nationally, and internationally is a key responsibility. Effective collaboration and building strong relationships will be integral to your success. Outreach is a critical component, as you foster relationships with partners in the public sector, business and industry. You will seek to have a leading role in influencing national policy relevant to Faculty subject areas. As a leader, you will drive progress in areas for development, diversification, and growth for the Faculty and cross-faculty initiatives. Additionally, you will lead the development and implementation of the Faculty’s research agenda, focusing on relevant, applied, and fundable research.

Video logistics:
- Record your video, ensuring it does not exceed 5 minutes in duration and 2GB in size. (This could be recorded via phone, laptop camera, MS Teams etc…)
- Upload your video to a file hosting service, such as Dropbox. Generate a share link ensuring that “anyone with this link can view”.
- Include the direct link in your online application when asked.
The deadline for submissions is Midnight on Sunday 14th January. Shortlisted candidates will be notified within 7 days after close, with Interviews taking place on Friday 2nd February.
