Job description: Bradford SENDIASS is the Special Education Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (known as SENDIASS) as specified in the 2014 Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice. The service provides children, young people, their parents, carers, and those working with families in Bradford with free, confidential, impartial information, advice and support about matters relating to Special Educational Needs and or disability.

The purpose of the role is to contribute to the smooth running of the Bradford SENDIASS Service, and to support parents, carers, children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities through the provision of impartial information and advice on SEND processes

The key activities of the role are to:

  • Be the first point of contact into the service via email and telephone, and deal with queries appropriately.
  • Maintain a database of enquiries,
  • Provide basic information and advice via telephone or email on specific topics where appropriate, using existing resources and training provided to you.
  • Identify and send out follow up information from our existing resources and signpost to our website or other sources of support locally.
  • Carry out any other admin tasks relevant to the post including sending out waiting list letters, welcome packs, and carrying out telephone evaluations with previous service users.
  • Be responsible for advertising training and workshops, managing bookings and contacting participants as needed.
  • Contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements of the service using data input and presentation skills.
  • For the right candidate there may be the opportunity to support casework staff delivering events, drop ins and workshops.

Candidates applying for the role will need to have experience of using Microsoft office packages and carrying out admin tasks in a busy service. You should be comfortable taking and making phone calls and dealing with service users who may at times be upset or frustrated in a sympathetic and efficient manner. Experience of the SEND system and/or working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their parents/carer’s would be desirable, however basic SEND Law training, a full induction and ongoing support will be provided.
