We are looking for a Support Worker to join our client NHS England on a temporary basis

This is a unique role which will require you to assist/support colleagues who work at NHS England who have learning difficulties

The client is looking for the successful candidate to have experience working with associates who have learning difficulties or autism, this could either be on a professional basis or if you have a family member you look after who has learning difficulties

  • Location: Leeds city centre (Wellington Place)
  • Hybrid working
  • Part time
  • 16 hours spread across Monday – Friday
  • Assignment length: March 2024 however could lead to a permanent opportunity
  • Salary: £12.86 per hour

The Team

The Learning Disability and Autism Engagement Team aims to build a bridge between NHS England and people with a learning disability, autism or both, their families, carers and supporters. We want to work in partnership to make sure that people with a learning disability, autism or both are a part of NHS decision making.

The Team is part of the NHS England Learning Disability Programme and works closely with the NHS England Patient and Public Participation Team.

The role:

As an Administrative Support Worker (Access to Work), the post holder will support three people with a learning disability in their roles, in an empowering way, on a one-to-one basis.

In particular, the post holder will provide practical support with a range of practical and administrative tasks in the usual workplace and occasionally out of the office. This may include planning, meeting preparation, support with training, organisation and time management and some job specific tasks. Whilst the role offers in the main, practical support, there is also some mental health and well-being support required.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience of working with associates who have learning difficulties and autism
  • If you have family members who have learning difficulties this could be an opportunity for you as the client are looking for successful candidates who are able to relate and understand their colleagues needs
  • Basic admin skills
  • Understanding of Microsoft packages
  • Excellent communication skills to build a rapport with your colleagues
