Administrator at University of Bristol

January 10, 2024

Job Description

The role

We are excited to appoint an Administrator who will form an integral part of our professional administrative team within the Student Counselling Service at the University of Bristol. As part of a team of six administrators based on reception in Hampton House, the successful candidate will help run essential and day-to-day tasks, ensuring harmonious and smooth delivery of our student-facing service.

  • Wednesdays – 7 hours on site
  • Thursdays – 7 hours on site (with option to Work From Home on this day subject to operational need)
  • Fridays – 7 hours on site

The Student Counselling Service is working hard to create a welcoming, calming, and joyful place to work, whilst meeting the demographic of the student population and offering increasingly diverse and inclusive therapeutic support. As a team, we are genuinely passionate about equality, diversity, and inclusion; it forms a key thread through the work we do. We want everyone who joins the service to be a part of this and to contribute to the friendly and fun community we are creating.

In line with the wider University strategy, we are committed to fostering equality, diversity and inclusion, and anti-racism. We encourage applications who identify as male and come from or have significant experience working with black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities. We are currently under-represented in these areas, although all appointments will be made on merit.

What will you be doing?

As the first point of in-person contact within the service, you will be engaging with students and staff in a friendly, calming manner and responding sensitively to enquiries. You will also play a role in updating our client database and other internal systems, as well as booking appointments for our talented team of Counsellors.

You should apply if

  • You have a keen eye for detail, a knack for organisation, and enjoy supporting others.
  • You would bring warm and welcoming energy to the role, as well as the flexibility to prioritise tasks depending on the situation.
  • You value working in partnership within a large team, enjoy listening and learning, respect others, and try not to make assumptions.
  • You pride yourself on being a clear communicator.
  • You are caring and inclusive; you look out for others, try to think about all our differences, and like to include those around you wherever possible.
  • You are proud of your place in Bristol and the active role you will play in helping those who live within this vibrant city.
