We have an opportunity for an Aerothermal Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary R&D aerospace team in Yeovil. The worldwide push for net zero aviation creates significant opportunities for Honeywell to maintain our position at the forefront of global aerospace technology development by taking new hydrogen-based technologies from concepts through to mature technologies that will drive the revolution towards net zero aviation.
Our team in Yeovil work on technology developments, from initial concepts up to prototypes demonstrated in flight. As a technical project lead for the thermal management of key sub-systems of sustainable aircraft powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cell, Hydrogen Gas Turbines or Hybrid Systems. You are expected to define of system architecture, trade-off analyses, system modelling and simulations, and performance assessment for integrated thermal management sub-systems, heat exchangers, and electric propulsion.
Aerothermal Engineer responsibilities
- System architecture definition for thermal management sub-systems and their development
- Provide expertise in an area of heat exchangers, electric propulsion motor colling and their integration, CFD and thermal analysis
- Close collaboration with subject matter experts on architecture definition, systems, and component engineering, providing system level guidance, defining the trade-off studies and participation on system modelling and analysis
- Definition and planning of system development, leading design reviews
- Close collaboration with project manager and their support
- Performing functional hazard assessment, system safety assessment, common cause analysis
- Supervising preparation of Validation and Verification plans
- Participation on preparation of system test procedures and acceptance test procedures
- Preparing tasks for colleagues and integrate their results into your system development
Qualifications
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in relevant engineering domain
- Proven multidisciplinary or thermal system engineering experience
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience within the aerospace industry
- Knowledge and experience of Heat Exchanger design and/or manufacture
- Experience with vapor cycle cooling or air cycle cooling systems
Although this is primarily a civilian aerospace role our technology has military applications, the successful candidate will need to meet with our security standards
