Job description: Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in Greenmount is looking for an Agriculture Worker to join their team.
Duration: 51 Weeks
Rate of pay: £11.95
Location: Greenmount
Hours: Core hours Monday – Friday, 8.45am – 5.00pm (Additional hours, on a rota basis, outside of these times will be required including weekend work. Rostered milking commences at 6am)
Main Duties:
– The successful agency worker will be part of the Industrial Team at The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise’s (CAFRE’s) Dairy Centre in Antrim.
– The position will involve cattle and sheep husbandry duties, including milking cows, on a rota basis, and the supervision of students during practical skills duties.
– Additional duties will include basic farm maintenance and operation of machinery associated with livestock, grassland management and crop husbandry.
– An element of physical and financial enterprise recording of farm data will also be required.
Essential Criteria:
– A minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture.
– A full driving licence is required.
– Candidates should have at least one year’s experience of working with cattle and sheep, including milking cows.
– Reading and writing skills are essential to follow standard operating procedures and record basic enterprise data on provided recording sheets and systems.
Desirable Criteria:
A formal training, and assessed competence certificate in the safe operation of the following machinery would be advantageous.
- Tractor Driving
- Rough Terrain Telescopic Handlers
- Counter Balance Forklift Trucks
- Sit astride All Terrain Vehicles (ATV)
