Job Description

Job title: Analyst, National Accounting & Audit, Audit & Assurance

Company: Deloitte

Job description: Connect to your Industry

Discover, investigate, influence. Our sharp, analytical minds are relied upon to ensure that Deloitte operates safely in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Are you up to the challenge?

As a team we promote hybrid working and are committed to developing our people with the potential for professional qualifications in future.

Connect to your career at Deloitte

Deloitte drives progress. Using our vast range of expertise, that covers audit, risk advisory, and consulting services across tax, legal, business, technology and corporate finance, we help our clients become leaders wherever they choose to compete. To do this, we invest in outstanding people. We build teams of future thinkers, with diverse talents and backgrounds, and empower them all to reach for and achieve more.

What brings us all together at Deloitte? It’s how we approach the thousands of decisions we make every day. How we behave, our beliefs and our attitudes. In other words: our values. Whatever we do, wherever we are in the world, we lead the way, serve with integrity, take care of each other, foster inclusion, and collaborate for measurable impact. These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.

The Analyst in this role will be based around the Cardiff office, working in the National Accounting and Assurance department and supporting our teams throughout the UK. This division of the firm is responsible for a variety of quality, risk, regulatory and compliance support activities. Concentrating the efforts in a centralised function helps to ensure a high standard of compliance with the underlying regulations while enabling client facing teams to devote more of their time to their entities and engagements.

A vacancy has arisen for a dynamic and flexible individual with good IT skills (particularly MS Excel) to help meet the increasingly high demands placed on this busy, exciting and innovative team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Enabling the firm to operate efficiently through collaboration with our stakeholders to meet reporting and licensing obligations;
  • Maintaining and supporting the development of compliance systems, to monitor and deal with regulatory and business requirements;
  • Liaising extensively with internal customers;
  • Providing partners and leadership with information needed on which to base decisions;
  • Manipulating and analysing data quickly and efficiently, mainly using Excel functions to produce reports required by the business and its Regulators;
  • Review and refresh information held on existing clients;
  • Providing ad-hoc project and reporting support to the Regulatory Compliance and wider Risk Management organisation when required;
  • Promoting best practice Risk Management tools and techniques to practitioners and central function

The role is expected to grow and evolve rapidly both as the National Accounting and Assurance department expands in Cardiff, and in response to regular changes experienced in our operating environment. Additionally, individuals who demonstrate sufficient capacity and commitment in their primary roles might be given the opportunity to contribute to other projects, thus aiding their personal development.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

Our Analysts come from a wide range of backgrounds, sometimes with little or no prior experience of financial services. What connects us is our enquiring minds and our ability to deliver a great service. We are looking for:

  • Excellent research and analytical skills combined with good judgement and effective decision-making capability.
  • Skilled communicators with strong interpersonal abilities at all levels.
  • Enthusiastic team players that can also be relied upon to solve problems on their own.
  • Flexible-multi-tasking: This is a dynamic role requiring the ability to work to tight deadlines with competing priorities.
  • Discretion: you will be required to sign an enhanced confidentiality agreement and will be subject to certain investment restrictions.
  • A high level of IT user competence, particularly in Microsoft Excel and databases.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams would be beneficial but not essential
  • Working effectively in diverse teams with an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

Application end date 15th Jan 2024.

This can mean that you and your “Immediate Family Members” are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
