Join Aon on our Marketing and Communications placement and spend 12 months discovering the wide range of roles that exist within our marketing and communications team.

We recognise the learning, development, and social value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the start of their programme. All our placement colleagues will spend most of their time in the office and occasional time working from home or a client site.

Your role as a Marketing and Communications Industrial Placement:

Working in an innovative and energetic marketing and communications team no two days are the same. You’ll have hands-on experience in the wide number of roles that exist within our marketing and communications function, from Internal Communications and Media Relations to Campaigns, Insights, Brand and Events.

During your placement, you may choose to spend more time in one or two areas that particularly interest you, to further develop and hone your skills, knowledge and understanding.

This placement will help you gain industry experience, build your network and equip you with knowledge for future career opportunities.

  • Hands-on experience working within a cross-functional marketing and communications team
  • Work on marketing and communications projects to help build brand awareness, generate new business leads, nurture existing clients and help Aon achieve its growth targets
  • Learn skills in teamwork and aligning marketing to the needs of sales and the business
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues on a global platform

What your day could look like:

  • Working with a Campaign Activation Manager to brief Aon’s digital agency on a demand program which includes paid LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Search and content syndication
  • Meeting with business stakeholders to understand growth priorities and any new solutions/products that are in planning
  • Playing an active part in delivering an Aon event attended by 100 clients and prospects
  • Working with a Campaign Planning Manager to plan a marketing campaign aimed at particular buyer and map the customer journey
  • Communicating to more than 6000 employees in the UK to help them feel more relevant, connected, and valued
  • Working alongside our Media Relations team and PR agencies to develop press releases and field media enquiries

Your Development

During our Industrial placement programme, you will be enrolled onto our award-winning development programme, where over the 12 months, you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of insightful and interactive training and development activities in addition to your role. Here are couple of key elements of our development programme:

  • Induction – Learn about Aon and our Story, meet and network with your fellow placement cohort and Aon colleagues from across our business including senior leaders; technical and business training to equip you with skills and knowledge to help you in your role
  • Aon Business focused project – you and your team will be tasked to research and help to find solutions for a real business challenge. At the end of the project, you will have the chance to present your findings to a panel of Aon colleagues
  • Feedback – when you begin your Aon placement, you will have time with your line manager to discuss your goals and over your 12-month programme you will receive feedback and support.

Your career beyond your Industrial Placement

Once you’ve completed the formal Industrial Placement programme, depending on your performance and business need, you may be offered a role on our graduate programme for the following year.

When you return, you’ll be part of our Launch development programme where we’ll fully support your study towards your professional qualification.

Entry Requirements:

  • You will need to have or be on track to achieve a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in marketing, communications or general business subject area
  • You will need to be eligible for an Industrial Placement, which means you are currently studying for your undergraduate degree and the placement will be undertaken in the 3rd year of a 4 year degree.

What are we looking for?

  • Motivation and ambition – we are looking for candidates who are eager to understand what we do and be able to articulate why you want to join the Marketing and Communications team
  • Confident communicator and able to work collaboratively with Aon colleagues and external agencies
