The Warehouse Tech team are looking for an Application Architect to join them to ensure Nexts highly automated warehouse and distribution network stays at the top of its game. Based at South Elmsall, Yorkshire. Salary: £57,959-£65,050 (includes tradable benefits)

Architects at Next
Next has been investing in driving an Architect First approach to its development having recently created a Next Technology wide team of Architects. This team helps to drive collaborative Standards across the whole of Next Technology, ensuring synergy across the technology design, approach and platforms.

About The Role
Being part of the wider Architect team spanning Next Technology, the Application Architect ensures a shared knowledge base, technical approach and strict security standards are at the centre of all assessments and recommendations.

Knowledge of the full development lifecycle following an idea from Concept to Delivery and the ability to exhibit this to stakeholders of various technical backgrounds.

We are at an exciting stage of our Architectural processes, establishing the best engagement approach with our Stakeholders. This role offers opportunities to contribute to ways of working, alongside the day-to-day technology work.

This is a hybrid role with some office working based in our Warehouse Technology office near Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

The Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of High Level Solution Design
  • Work with Delivery Managers, Stakeholders and Development Teams to build the right solution to a defined Business requirement
  • Evolve and establish Patterns, Best Practices and Standards to be used across Next Technology
  • Provide early proof of concept code samples or example
  • Provide Technical Reviews and guidance to Development teams
  • Perform technical deep dive investigations into troublesome code or systems
  • Consider the viability of design solutions in relation to Next Total Platform
  • Active collaboration across the Architecture community within Next.
  • Looking ahead for technologies that will benefit Next Technology functionality
  • “Speed to market vs Technology Adoption” analytical & evaluation skills

About You

  • Ability to analyse and recommend from multiple stand points
  • Strong design history with on-prem and Azure approach to deliveries
  • Use of modern presentation approaches including C4, with use of EA tooling
  • Understanding of Security standards within the development industry
  • Knowledge of Event Driven architectures
  • Practical use of Micro Service approach to problems
  • Strong Visual and Verbal communicator
  • Good presentation skills on multiple levels
  • Any additional Architect training would be an advantage
  • Exposure to SAFe and Agile ALM approaches
  • Able to speak, read and write English at a level that enables you to complete your role, for example, to understand instructions and communicate effectively with stakeholders and/or other team members
  • Experienced in effectively working in a collaborative manner in a large scale, fast paced environment within a multifunctional technical team
