Syngenta’s Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre is one of our two award-winning manufacturing sites in the UK. The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate “safely, reliably and cost effectively” and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield.
At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one finished product formulation and packaging plant with the most recent facility opening in May 2010.
Job Description
- Provide independent technical authority to Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre (GMC) in order to underpin and improve the safe and efficient production capabilities, within boundaries defined by legislation, company and site operating standards.
- Provide technical, supervisory and coaching support to plant control / electrical and contractor teams across site.
- Co-ordinate the development of C&E Technicians across site.
- Develop as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) within defined electrical specialism.
- Develop personal technical competence and demonstrate company leadership standards.
- Undertake auditing of control/electrical equipment, installations and procedures, in order to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
- Authorise Management of Change (MoC) – C&E functional approver role.
- Provide control / electrical technical support to plant engineering and operations personnel at all levels, to meet the health & safety and production needs of the business.
- Provide control / electrical support to capital and revenue projects, from the initial design through to handover to operations – as defined within the local project process framework.
- Provide coaching, training and validation support for C&E Technicians, in order to develop improved knowledge and capability.
Qualifications
- Operational experience in electrical distribution networks up to 11KV.
- Relevant electrical legislation.
- Control and electrical theory, relevant to a chemical production plant.
- Instrumentation and electrical equipment relevant to a chemical production plant.
- Previous experience gained within similar chemical, petrochemical or manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated project management experience (desirable).
- Qualified to Degree level in a relevant control and electrical subject.
- Capable of progressing towards Chartered Engineer professional registration, within a relevant engineering institute.
- Stakeholder management on and off-site.
- Competent Authority Regulator management.
- Continued technical development across all electrical disciplines.
- Involved within technical standards committees (EEMUA).

Expected salary: £42400 – 53000 per year
