Job description: Are you a data analyst looking to use your skills in an interesting environment where you could make an impact?Here at Bristol Water we have an opportunity for an Asset Leakage Analyst to join a small team inside our Asset Management directorate and help us identify water leakage from our distribution network.What you’ll be doing?As an Asset Leakage Analyst, you’ll be interpreting acoustic logger signals, highlighting areas of interest, using our Netbase system to monitor flow and pressure data, reporting reliable leakage data, contributing to the calculation of unmetered domestic consumption and assisting with the calculation of weekly and monthly leakage values in comparison with our leakage targets.You will have an opportunity to support with our annual regulatory reporting process relating to our annual Water Balance, the identification of areas at risk of poor pressure, exploration of data visualisation techniques and development of pressure and flow alarms to proactively identify and locate leaks as quickly as possible.Day to day you’ll be…The Leakage Analyst role as part of the Asset Performance Team will:
- Interpreting acoustic logger signals/leak sound recordings and highlighting points of interest to our operational teams.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the acoustic logger asset database and maintenance requirements.
- Assigning signals from various data logging sources into the Netbase system.
- Collating the monthly manual validation of pressure and flow data.
- Identifying data faults for Technical Planners to investigate and resolve.
- Calculating Trunk Main leakage.
- Creating alarm envelope notifications.
- Collaborating with regular Netbase updates to ensure it is kept up to date.
- Being a point of contact with system providers regarding updates and issues.
- Raising Netbase faults on the support website, providing technical descriptions and business consequences of issues.
- Raising system faults on the corporate IT system when Netbase is impacted.
- Working closely with operational teams, using their feedback to update Netbase to help target leakage detection efforts.
- Maintain data relating to Consumption Monitoring Areas and producing a reliable Per Capita Consumption (PCC) figure.
- Producing weekly leakage updates.
- Assisting in the continuing development of the leak identification and analysis process.
- Providing data analysis and reporting, to support Company KPIs and regulatory requirements.
What we’re looking for…
- Experience in data analysis, particularly time-varying data, with water industry experience/infrastructure desirable.
- Methodical data fault finding.
- Being comfortable with working within a team and communicating with members of own and other departments.
- Ideally, experience of operating within a heavily regulated industry, balancing the needs of different stakeholders (i.e. regulators, customers, shareholders) and the delivery of business performance.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and react quickly to identified needs.
- Working to deadlines.
- Demonstrable experience of using computers is essential, including fluency in Microsoft packages especially Word and Excel.
- Experience manipulating and analysing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, including relationship management and liaising/managing relationship with external contractors.
Ideally, you’ll also have…
- A degree or experience associated with the analysis of data and problem solving.
- Experience of Netbase would be an advantage.
- Experience of SAP, GIS, Prism, Business Objects, Power BI and asset based systems would be an advantage.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.

Expected salary: £28000 – 33000 per year
