Associate/Assistant Professor in Architecture Design at University of Macau
Job Description
The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized research-oriented comprehensive public university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The GBA is rapidly developing into one of the leading technology and innovation hubs of the world. The Department of Arts and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Architecture Design.
According to the current plan, a Faculty of Design will be established at the new campus, comprising a Department of Architecture and Urban Design. The department will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees programmes.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (or equivalent terminal degree) in Architecture or related areas;
- A track record in teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: a. architecture design; b. architecture and design history, theory and criticism;
- Extensive experience as a practitioner and educator for senior positions;
- A significant record of architecture design projects, major awards, and grants is preferred;
- Proficiency in industry-standard software and emerging tools;
- Comprehensive experience in teaching and supervising both postgraduate and undergraduate students is an advantage;
- Proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in Chinese is an advantage for senior positions
- Possession of a recognized architecture license for positions in architecture design is a must
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty as early as August 2025.
Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor, MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Additionally, applicants should provide no more than six samples of academic writing/publications/essays/catalogues, and sample syllabi of classes previously taught.
