Job Title: Associate Director Legal Generalist
Location: Castleford, WF105H OR Harlow – 3 days on site
Contract: 12M Maternity cover
Hours: 37.5 P/W,
Pay: £70 – £80 per hour, inside IR35 via Umbrella

i-pharm consulting is working with a global leader in generics and biopharmaceuticals whose mission is to improve the lives of patients around the world. For more than a century they have been saving patients and healthcare systems billions of dollars each year by providing accessible generic alternatives to brand name drugs. They produce over 3,500 medicines in 70 production locations across 30 countries. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join their UK & Ireland Corporate/Commercial and Manufacturing Business team, in either their Harlow or Castleford office.
Supporting the General Counsel for UK & Ireland and working alongside the wider UK and Irish Legal team, in the provision of a high quality and commercially focused legal service to the UK commercial business units and UK and Irish manufacturing sites. Managing corporate re organisations (and other corporate work from time to time) commercial contracts including procurement contracts and a wide range of commercial legal issues across relevant areas of the UK and Irish business.
Main Accountabilities:
- Business partnering with relevant UK & Ireland business units to provide pragmatic legal advice.
- Supporting the GC UK & Ireland and leading on various corporate governance initiatives, including mandatory filings, preparation of board meetings and attendance at internal compliance meetings, as necessary.
- Providing corporate law advice and guidance as part of corporate re-organisation projects, both local and cross-jurisdictional.
- Providing corporate law advice and project management on product disposals, if and when required.
- Responsible for drafting, negotiating and advising on contractual arrangements for the sourcing or development of new product lines (i.e. Alliance Management).
- Providing contract law and strategic advice on a range of contract categories including, procurement of goods and/or services for various manufacturing sites at differing levels of complexity and value.
- Being the main business partner for all legal work and advice required by business units (e.g.HR services ((excluding employment law advice)), Facilities, IT, Finance/Tax, Insurance etc.) located in various manufacturing sites across UK & Ireland, with the assistance of external counsel where relevant.
- Providing commercial legal advice to some UK commercial business units (e.g. HR, Facilities, IT, Finance/Tax, Insurance etc.), with the assistance of external counsel where relevant.
- Providing general data privacy guidance and advice in the context of internal projects.
- Offering support and guidance for more junior team members on a number on general procurement projects and contracts.
- Supporting and leading on ESG initiatives, alongside ESG project manager and wider team.
- Anticipating internal and/or external business challenges and/or recommending process and service improvements.
- Managing legal risk in a manner that supports and facilitates their continued commercial success.
- Supporting external and internal project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skill and Specific Competencies Required:
- Law degree
Experience:
- Preferred post-qualification experience of roughly 5-7 years although candidates outside of this bracket will be considered
- Law experience within the UK.
- Strong technical contract law knowledge with experience of negotiating commercial contracts is essential.
- Some Competition, IP and GDPR experience would be an advantage, or the ability to identify issues in these areas.
- Experience within the pharmaceutical or health sector not essential but would be an advantage.
- Experience of operating in an in-house legal function with proven commercial acumen and business partnering experience would be an advantage.
- A desire to work as part of a close-knit team and to support other legal team members as and when required.
Expected salary: £70 – 80 per hour
