Do you have an interest in film programming studies? We at Birkbeck, University of London, are thrilled to announce an opening for an Associate Lecturer in Practices of Film Programming & Curating. As Associate Lecturer for the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication, you will be teaching for this coming year for 12 months, from Autumn 2024.
As an Associate Lecturer your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality teaching on the module: History Theory Methods – Practices of Curation.
- Undertaking scholarship to maintain knowledge of appropriate subject areas.
- Undertaking all related course administrative duties as required.
- Communicating complex information in an engaging and understandable manner.
- Encouraging critical thinking and fostering debate amongst students.
The ideal candidate for the Associate Lecturer role should have:
- Deep critical and professional experience of the practices of film programming & curating, working with networks and sourcing film programming and curating placements.
- Experience in teaching the practices of film curation at degree level.
- A postgraduate degree (or equivalent level) in film programming and curating, or be close to completion.
- An understanding of different teaching and learning methods and experience of working with students from a range of backgrounds.
Remuneration
Starting rate £66.70 per hour, inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay for contact hours worked.
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous. The hourly rate is based on starting point, Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
